Golding Students Receive Hands-On Golf Lesson from SUNY Delhi Athletes and Coaches

Golding Middle School students recently had the unique opportunity to receive first-hand golf instruction from collegiate athletes and coaches as part of their physical education classes.
Over the course of two days, coaches and student-athletes from SUNY Delhi joined all P.E. classes to teach golf fundamentals, demonstrate techniques, and work directly with students on skill development. The experience provided middle schoolers with exposure to the sport in an engaging and supportive environment.
A special thank you goes to Coach Joe Burgin and Coach Jim Lees, along with all of the SUNY Delhi student-athletes who volunteered their time and expertise to mentor and encourage our students.
The program is now in its eighth year, made possible through the coordination of C-R Coach Jon Rohacevich. Rohacevich shared that he has seen a noticeable impact since introducing college-led instruction at the middle school level.
“We’ve seen a steady increase in both interest and skill level in our C-R golf program over the years,” Rohacevich said.
The district also extends its appreciation to Dylan Thompson from Christman’s Windham House who generously supplies golf equipment each year to ensure students have access to quality gear during the instructional week.
Students interested in continuing to develop their golf skills or exploring summer golf program opportunities are encouraged to reach out to Coach Rohacevich at rohacevichj@crcsd.org for more information.
This continued collaboration provides Golding students with a meaningful introduction to golf while strengthening the future of the C-R golf program!
