2026-27 Budget Information
The C-RCS Board of Education welcomes and encourages community participation on education and budget matters. Accordingly, we are committed to creating transparency around the budget development process. This page will be updated with regularly throughout the 2026-27 budget development process.
2026-27 school budget passed by a margin of 560 - 212 according to results announced Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Kayla Mahoney, Amy Kennedy, and Sarah Nies were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Education.
The $49,131,657 budget approved by voters will raise the local property tax levy by 1.91%. The budget preserves student programming through strategic spending and district savings.
“While we continue to face difficult budget cycles, combined with the additional challenges associated with late New York State budgets, we remain committed to providing our students with the outstanding programs and opportunities that enable them to succeed, said Superintendent Matt Sickles. “We are thankful for the faculty, staff, parents, and community members who help advance those goals every day.”
“On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank our community for their continued trust and support,” said Board of Education President Bruce Tryon. “We remain committed to ensuring our students have access to high-quality programs and learning experiences that help them succeed.”
Below is a summary of the results from the ballot propositions:
School budget: 72% of residents voted in favor of the $49,131,657 budget. The budget raises the local tax levy by 1.91%, which falls within the New York State “tax cap” for C-R.
Board of Education: Four candidates ran for three available seats. The results were as follows: Kayla Mahoney (539), Amy Kennedy (483), Angela Clapper (392), and Sarah Nies (519).
Community Library Budget: The $546,480 budget was passed by a margin of 572-200.
The District extends a sincere thank you to the Citizens’ Budget Committee and all members of the C-RCS community who engaged in the budget process and advocated on behalf of our students and programs. We appreciate the Cobleskill-Richmondville community for supporting the budget and our continued work on behalf of our students and their families.

Qualified voters who would like to request an absentee ballot may download and/or print the School District Absentee Ballot Application (for School District Elections, Budget Votes and Referenda) and returned to the district clerk not later than 7 days before the election for which the absentee ballot is sought.
Qualified voters are authorized to request a New York State School District Early Mail Ballot Application (for School District Elections, Budget Votes and Referenda) for any school election at which early vote by mail is authorized by law. The application must be received by the district clerk not later than 7 days before the election for which the early mail ballot is sought.
