Academics

Connectivity DayCobleskill-Richmondville offers high-quality educational experiences for our students. At each of our four schools, teachers provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that allow for students to meet New York State’s standards. Recognizing that not all learners are the same, a wide array of enrichment programming and support services are provided.

Elementary Schools

Students at the elementary level enjoy a well-rounded schooling in reading and writing, mathematics, science and social studies topics. An introduction to emerging technology is part of the course of study. All students participate in the arts, and at the upper levels of elementary, students are afforded the opportunity to perform in band, chorus, and orchestra. Many student-musicians will join all three ensembles. Physical activity and wellness are woven into the curriculum through our PE classes and through prevention programming with our community partners. Intramurals and recess, along with community sports leagues, complement our school-day offerings.

Middle School

Middle-Level Learners begin to expand their foundational learning at our middle school. Experiential learning in a variety of content areas is offered to all students. Courses in world languages, career and technical education, which includes family and consumer science and Gateway to Technology, along with our art classes and musical program provide our students with a vast amount of exploration.  Career and school counseling is infused throughout middle school to assist students in developing pathways for future study. Accelerated coursework is offered beginning in seventh grade in mathematics and is expanded in eighth grade to include Regents-level Algebra 1, Regents-level Living Environment and Studio in Art. For the student-athlete, modified-level interscholastic sports are offered to seventh- and eighth-grade students. Many of these teams have feeder programs in intramurals and community sports leagues.

High School

High School students have many choices when it comes to learning. A set number of required courses in the core academics are mandatory for graduation, and students are encouraged to pursue additional interest-based learning for credit. A robust course catalog is provided to families that showcases our extensive coursework in Agriculture, Business Education, Project Lead the Way, World Languages, Visual Arts, Family and Consumer Science, plus a variety of subject area electives, many for college credit. Our high school is a leader in Advanced Placement (AP) through the College Board having been named to their Honor Roll multiple times. NYSSMA and the traditional high school musical are components of the school’s performing music department. Interscholastic teams for JV and Varsity athletes number in thirties. Students at our high school can extend their learning beyond our walls through distance learning electives, career and technical education at Capital Region BOCES (Schoharie Center) and the Center for Advanced Technologies, New Visions in Health Careers, Tech Valley High School, and P-Tech High School/College Programming.
