Mrs. Yorks’ first grade class recently welcomed local author Morgan Benson for a special classroom visit focused on storytelling, creativity, and the writing process.

During the visit, Benson read her children’s book, Goats with Coats, capturing students’ attention with its engaging story and illustrations. She also shared insights into how the book came to life, explaining her writing process and how she collaborated with an illustrator to turn her ideas into a finished book.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions and even share some of the stories they have been writing themselves, creating an interactive and inspiring experience for the young authors. The visit encouraged creativity, reinforced the value of writing, and showed students how their own ideas can grow into stories others can enjoy.
