C-RHS Team Earns First Place at Capital Region Envirothon

Students from Cobleskill-Richmondville High School showcased their environmental knowledge and teamwork at the 2026 Capital Region Envirothon, held last Wednesday, April 29. Three teams from Susan McConnelee’s Environmental Science Club represented the district in the annual competition.
The Envirothon is a hands-on environmental education event designed for high school students. Participants are tested across a range of topics, including aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and current environmental issues, challenging both their knowledge and problem-solving skills.
C-R is proud to announce that one of its teams earned first place overall in this year’s competition. The winning team includes Daniel Ruenes, Ezra Aranovitch, Connor Wilkinson, Brady Lampron, and Ana Minardi. Their hard work, preparation, and collaboration led to an outstanding performance against strong regional competition.
With this victory, the team has qualified to advance to the 2026 New York State Envirothon, which will take place May 27–28 at SUNY Cortland.
The Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District congratulates all three participating teams for representing C-R with excellence and wishes the first-place team the best of luck at the state competition.
