C-RHS Art Students Featured in Regional High School Art Exhibition at Hartwick College

Twenty-seven art students from Cobleskill-Richmondville High School recently participated in the 8th Annual Regional High School Art Exhibition, held at the Foreman Gallery at Hartwick College in Oneonta.
The students’ collaborative artwork, A Rogues Gallery, was prominently featured in the exhibition. The piece consisted of each artist’s self portrait crafted in metal wire using a contour line drawing technique. Each artist bent, twisted and wrapped wire to create a likeness of themselves in the style of American sculptor, Alexander Calder. Originally displayed as individual pieces, the portraits were later combined specifically for this opportunity. The artwork received strong positive feedback from gallery visitors and attendees.
Students were also invited to participate in the exhibition’s closing reception and Art Discovery Day, which would have included a gallery tour, visits to Hartwick’s art studios, admissions information sessions, and lunch. However, the event coincided with high school midterm exams, preventing students from attending. Hartwick College has noted the scheduling conflict for future planning, with hopes that students will be able to attend next year.
Community members are encouraged to visit the C-RHS Art Commons to view A Rogues Gallery, now on display. The district congratulates all participating students for representing C-RHS and showcasing their artistic talents at a regional level!
