C-R is pleased to announce our acceptance into the Western Athletic Conference beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
In October 2022, our application was denied after the Greater Johnstown Central School District withdrew their application. In the spring of 2023, Johnstown reapplied prompting C-R to resubmit our application for consideration by the WAC member schools.
Membership in the WAC helps address our concerns related to competitive balance and team travel.
There are many details yet to be determined regarding the impact of our membership in the WAC, including schedules for specific sports and the potential for divisional play within the WAC.
Since our membership does not take effect until the 2024-2025 school year, there is time to work out those details. We appreciate your patience and we will keep you informed as we learn more.
It is important to note that our membership in the WAC will not impact Football (classification-based schedules), Indoor Track (divisional schedules), and Boys Volleyball (Patroon Council schedule).
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Colonial Council for their support and partnership during our more than twenty years of membership.
We look forward to continuing as proud members of the Colonial Council for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. We value the relationships with the member schools of the Colonial Council and look forward to scheduling non-league contests in the future.
We would also like to thank the members of the C-RCS League Affiliation Committee, including student athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, and staff members, for helping to inform our decision to apply and reapply to the WAC. Their service to the C-RCS community was instrumental in making this positive outcome possible.
We look forward to sharing more information as we work with the other members of the Western Athletic Conference to begin planning for the 2024-2025 school year.
