Mrs. Carey Raymond, an educator with extensive experience in classroom instruction and curriculum development, will serve as the next principal at Radez Elementary.

Mrs. Raymond was appointed to her position during a special Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Her tenure at Radez will begin Aug. 15.

"I would like to let the community of Cobleskill know of my commitment and dedication to the district,” said Mrs. Raymond, who joins C-R from Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School.  “Neighboring Cobleskill my entire life, I have been able to see the beauty and feel the pride among the community. I pledge to honor and uphold the values already set forth at Radez Elementary. I cannot wait to get started and be part of such a welcoming and caring place."

Mrs. Raymond was selected following a thorough interview process that included committees of administrators, teachers and even students.

A classroom teacher, Science Curriculum Coordinator and member of the BKW Building Leadership and Thought Leadership teams, Mrs. Raymond brings to C-R an extensive background in both teacher and student development.

“Among a very well-qualified group of candidates, Mrs. Raymond stood out for her enthusiasm, her passion for student and professional development, and her experience implementing educational standards,” said Mr. David Sander, C-R’s Acting Superintendent of Schools. “We’re very excited to welcome Carey to the C-R administrative team, and we look forward to watching her lead the talented staff members and ambitious students at Radez Elementary.”

An educator at BKW since 2008, Mrs. Raymond has taught in general education, special education and integrated classrooms, including most recently as a co-teacher in a 5th grade integrated room.

As the Science Curriculum Coordinator, a position she has held since 2017, Mrs. Raymond has led the purchasing and implementation of the district’s science curriculum while also providing related professional development to her colleagues. She also serves on a number of building- and district-level committees, including Building Leadership and Technology and Data Security.

Mrs. Raymond holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and special education from Marist College and a master’s in school counseling from The College of Saint Rose. She is a certified School Building Leader and is nearing completion of her School District Leader certificate.

At Radez, she replaces Mr. Eric Whipple, who resigned this past spring to become the superintendent at Charlotte Valley Central School District.
