This is the image for the news article titled Cobleskill FD talks safety with Ryder studentsFirefighters from the Cobleskill Fire Department visited classrooms virtually this past week to help keep Cobleskill-Richmondville students safe from the dangers of fires.

Normally, the department comes to Ryder Elementary each year to perform demonstrations and talk with students.

But given C-R’s effort to limit school visitors as part of the district’s COVID-19 reopening plan, Cobleskill Fire Prevention Coordinator Bill Johnson instead gave live, virtual presentations to all of Ryder’s classrooms, from Pre-K through second grade.

Standing in front of a webcam in the firehouse and surrounded by fire engines, gear and equipment, Chief Johnson covered a range of fire-safety topics, from “Stop, Drop and Roll” to how to dial “911” in the event of an emergency.

The district is grateful for the efforts of his entire team for the work they do to help keep C-R students safe!
