In order to promote student safety, improve traffic flow and help our buses more reliably run on schedule, we have made a few adjustments to our daily schedules and arrival/dismissal procedures. All of the changes outlined below will take effect beginning Monday, Sept. 26, and additional details specific to your child’s school may follow from the building principal.

Before-care

Most notably, we will be adding a before-care program at Ryder, Radez and Golding. Not only does this offer our families more flexibility in their drop-off times, but it also should alleviate some of the traffic congestion we sometimes see just before school begins.

At Radez, where the traffic has backed up onto Rt. 7, students now will be able to get off their buses and into the building sooner. This means buses can leave the drop-off area earlier, allowing cars to flow through the loop more quickly.

Before-care times will be as follows:

Ryder: 7:35 a.m. - 8:07 a.m.

Radez: 7:15 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.

Golding: 7:30 a.m. - 8:02 a.m.

Pre-registration for before-care will be required at Ryder and Radez. To sign up your student for before-care, please use the following form: Radez/Ryder Before-Care.

Dismissal

To help our buses run on schedule more consistently, we have made slight modifications to dismissal times. Radez Elementary and C-R High School each will dismiss three minutes earlier, while Ryder Elementary and Golding Middle School will dismiss two minutes later.

We also have adjusted the bus parking pattern at Radez to address student safety concerns. The new arrangement will permit a more orderly flow of students from the building to their buses.

Adjusted schedules

Please note that if your student rides the bus to and from school each day, his or her bus pick-up and drop-off will not be affected by any of these schedule changes. Parent pick-up and drop-off times may vary by five minutes or less. Your child’s building principal will have additional details, if applicable.

Additionally, the Radez and Ryder After School Programs will continue as scheduled. Neither is impacted by these changes.

In closing, I’d like to express my sincere appreciation for your patience and cooperation as we have worked through pick-up, drop-off and transportation challenges over the first few weeks of school. A bus-driver shortage impacting districts across the nation, including ours, has significantly complicated our transportation plan, which has wide-ranging implications for our school schedules, traffic patterns and more. While we continue to actively recruit more bus drivers, I would like to acknowledge the dedication of our transportation team, which is working extraordinarily hard to get our students to and from school safely.

Thank you for your continued support, and please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.
