As the 2021-2022 school year comes to an end, we would like to recognize the positivity that AOPC (Agents of Positive Change) has brought to our high school community.

Here is a list of a few things we accomplished this school year in order to become a “No Place for Hate” school, as designated by the Anti-Defamation League:

  • Resolution of Respect: In the beginning of the school year members of the AOPC recruited students and teachers to sign the resolution of respect to encourage C-RCS to be a “No Place for Hate” school.

  • Power of Presence: During school lunches, AOPC hosted a table at which students discussed the impacts of social media, including basic internet safety, mental health, cancel culture and how to be kind online.

  • Where do you stand? Students were sent a Google Form containing a video and questions to help them self-reflect on if they themselves have witnessed, partaken, or been a victim of hate speech.

  • Just Joking Jeopardy: During lunch periods, members of AOPC hosted a Jeopardy game that raised awareness regarding hate speech vocabulary, young leaders, diverse representation in social media and counter speech.

As always, we are looking for underclassmen who are motivated to affect positive change in our school community. AOPC is ALWAYS accepting new members! See Ms. Hay or a current member to learn how to join!
